“Working in America” survey shows that Americans want better healthcare coverage, better compensation, and respect from employers.

According to the “Working in America: The Key to Employee Satisfaction” survey, exceptional healthcare is the most desired benefit currently not offered by employers. In fact, 100 percent coverage of healthcare costs is considered a more desirable benefit to employees than competitive salary. Other popular workplace perks included 401(k) matching and full tuition refund.

Workforce Institute’s opinion

Many organizations struggle to achieve the balance between the needs of the employee and the needs of the organization. Most organizations are under pressure to increase productivity and profits and understand that they need a motivated workforce to do so. But the survey shows that 73 percent of employed adults are currently either actively or passively looking for a new job because they feel that they aren’t compensated fairly and they are under appreciated. The Institute’s opinion: companies might be trying, but their efforts are failing to meet employees’ requirements for job satisfaction. If they truly can’t offer benefits, there are other ways to boost employee satisfaction. Tell us what’s worked in your organization.
